BrokerPocket, a real estate agent only tool, launches in British Columbia

Exclusive listings are gaining in popularity in response to the drastically shifted market conditions. An exclusive listing, also referred to as a “pocket listing” is an off-market property that is not publicly posted on the multiple listing service (MLS®).

There are a multitude of reasons as to why a seller would list their property exclusively. These range from maintaining privacy of the seller, discreteness of the property or the property simply not being ready to be advertised on a public-facing platform. The growing trend of pocket listings has challenged real estate professionals to adjust to the market conditions in order to better serve their clients.

To help overcome this challenge, a new property technology startup is now entering the British Columbia market. Previously only in Ontario, BrokerPocket is a real estate agent exclusive platform with the largest collection of off-market listings in the province. The platform allows agents to promote and sell their pocket listings to thousands of other agents while maintaining discreteness, as well as receiving first-hand access to a multitude of off-market listings.

This consolidated marketplace has an ever-growing number of users; currently exceeding 4800 with over 2100 listings and an accumulated total value of $2.3B worth of real estate that has crossed the platform. BrokerPocket, a platform for off marketing properties, has chosen to begin their expansion in the province of British Columbia. The province, along with being known for its breathtaking mountains and rugged coastline, is a prominent real estate hub of the country. British Columbia is the third most populous province in Canada with over $2.8B worth of investment going towards residential pre-construction in August 2022 alone.

Real estate investors in Ontario and B.C often seek to diversify their portfolios by investing between both provinces. For agents, this poses a unique problem due to traditional real estate being confined by local regulations and borderlines. BrokerPocket aims to eliminate boundaries and restrictions through technology. With British Columbia's growing inventory of pre-construction properties, agents will be able to upload and sell their assignments in a centralized marketplace on BrokerPocket.

Along with assignments, B.C. agents will also be able to search and sell commercial, exclusive and coming soon properties. Once the platform goes live in the provinces, B.C. brokerages will be able to take advantage of the BrokerageHUB feature. BrokerPocket CEO and Founder, Eric Skicki, believes "BrokerageHUB will be a game-changer for offices as it will help them organize their off-market listings on a single platform and it's the solution to agents looking to sell their off-market listings more effectively."

As of the publication date of this article, BrokerPocket, an exclusive network, has entered the British Columbia market with their BETA launch.
